Michael P. Malakoff, PC, was founded by attorneys with proven track records in defending individuals against companies and businesses that have taken advantage in consumer transactions. Members of the firm have handled landmark appellate cases under the Truth-In-Lending Act, Fair Debt Collection Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, as well as breach of contract lawsuits, representing individual consumers and consumers in groups (class actions), many of which established groundbreaking legal precedents on behalf of consumers.
The attorneys of Michael P. Malakoff, PC, have recovered tens of millions of dollars for our class clients. We provide services on a contingent fee basis, which means that there is no charge whatsoever to any class client unless damages are recovered on the client’s behalf.
Many of our cases are consumer class actions where one consumer represents other consumers, often against a bank, other lender, or an insurance company. In such cases, the court must approve a firm’s fees and costs against the class benefit or against the defendant.
Our attorneys have associated with counsel throughout the country, and are actively involved with various consumer associations, including the National Association of Consumer Advocates, National Consumer Law Center, Public Justice, and Public Citizen.
